Doug Ford is trampling on every Canadian citizen's Charter of Rights by destructively invoking the Notwithstanding clause to deprive workers of their constitutional right to control their labour.

It is imperative that every Canadian Citizen have the power to determine if they want to work, and what price they want to offer their services for. By using the Notwithstanding clause, Ford is turning Ontario and Canada into a socialist state where the government can unilaterally impose forced labour conditions. That is what dictators like Stalin, and Hitler did.

The right to work in a civil democratic society where we can use free market principles to determine the cost of our labour is inherent to the democratic process. By the use of ad hoc laws, shutting down legislative discussions and debates Ford is casting aside the principles that are paramount to our democracy.

Ford claims that he is putting students first, we agree that students do come first! Supporting students means supporting Teachers, Educational Assistants and Custodians. These are the people who help every child to secure a quality education.
