The peaceful neighborhoods of W/J, White Star Ranch, Brush Creek,  Woody Creek and Chaparral are at risk of losing the quiet, rural character that makes them so special due to the proposed massively expanded racetrack and shooting range development near our homes.

For many of us, this is more than just where we live—it's our sanctuary. It's where we come home to recharge after a long day, where children play outside, neighbors connect, and families enjoy the peace and beauty of the Roaring Fork Valley. A racetrack in such close proximity would fundamentally change that.

Beyond its impact on residents, we must also consider the harm this project could cause to the wildlife that shares these open spaces with us. Elk, deer, horses, birds, and countless other species rely on this area for habitat. Increased noise, traffic, and development would disrupt the delicate balance that has existed here for generations.

The most immediate concern is the constant noise a racetrack would generate. The sound of racing engines would replace the quiet that defines our community. This isn't simply an inconvenience—research has shown that chronic noise pollution can contribute to sleep disruption, increased stress, cardiovascular health issues, and reduced concentration, particularly for children.

Woody Creek has long been known for its peaceful setting, strong sense of community, and exceptional quality of life. A racetrack threatens not only that character but also local property values and the long-term desirability of our neighborhoods. It risks discouraging future homeowners, impacting local businesses, and permanently altering the rural lifestyle that residents have invested in and worked hard to preserve.

We understand the importance of economic development, but growth should be thoughtful, responsible, and compatible with the surrounding community. If a racetrack is to be considered, alternative locations that do not directly impact established residential neighborhoods should be thoroughly evaluated. Development should enhance—not diminish—the places people call home.
