Protect Woodchurch's Biodiversity: Renounce Plans for Solar Panel Farm
The Issue
I have resided in the serene village of Woodchurch for 38 remarkable years. Along with my fellow public-spirited residents, we have built a community refuge that not only prides itself in its harmonious human interactions but notably, our abundant wildlife. It is with grave concern that we approach the proposed installation of a solar panel farm that threatens the habitat of countless protected and vulnerable species that call our precious landscape home.
This land, stretching to Kenardington, is not just a sanctuary for wildlife, but a path of history, with footpaths dating back hundreds of years down which generations have tread. Introducing a solar panel farm risks disrupting the tranquillity of our community and the potential empowerment that comes from harnessing renewable energy mustn't override the ecological value of the land it may desolate.
Contrary to popular belief, (the farmland this development threatens has significant potential for agricultural productivity, which, once forsaken, may never be regained. The environmental trade-off of sacrificing arable farmland for the production of solar energy cannot be ignored or understated.
I believe in the welfare of my community, both human and non-human inhabitants, and that is why I am challenging this proposed transformation of our landscape. In the same spirit that brought about the creation of our beloved public amenities like the Mealham Centre, Museum and Hub, let's unite and defend the integrity of the land we call home. This is not just a cause; it's our duty to ensure we co-exist with nature. So, join me and help preserve Woodchurch's rich biodiversity. Thank you for raising your voice. Please sign this petition.
I would like to ask this to everyone :
Do you believe it’s ok to construct Solar Farms on Farmland, thus removing the ability to grow food for 40 years
OR
Do you believe it’s better to construct solar arrays within industrial Zones, or roofs of warehouses and factories. This could benefit those that agree with a cheaper tarif of electricity before it feeds into the grid.
