Dear Supporters and Friends of Willamette Wetlands:

The developer who owns the wetland property has filed a Right-of-Way (ROW) vacation request for sections of three unimproved rights-of-way on 4th Avenue and 5th Street, adjacent to 1317 7th Street. We believe this request is necessary for the developer to move forward with their plans for 26 duplexes (52 units).

At the February 10th City Council meeting, thanks to the excellent testimony from members of our group, the Willamette Neighborhood Association, and concerned citizens, the Council granted a continuance of the hearing. This means we now have an opportunity to submit further written testimony until March 3rd at Noon PST. The applicant has until March 10th for a rebuttal and final deliberation by the City Council will be March 17th.

By denying the request, the City preserves its authority over this land and ensures its continued availability for public benefit and conservation.

We need your help:

  • Submit your written testimony to citycouncil@westlinnoregon.gov before March 3rd at 12 PM PST.
  • Use the template below and personalize your message. Please keep written comments respectful in nature, while also urging the City Council to do what is best for public interest by denying the ROW vacation.
  • Find additional talking points at FriendsOfWillametteWetlands.com.

Together, let’s hold the City Council accountable for protecting Public Interest!

Thank you for taking action,

Friends of Willamette Wetlands

Subject: Written Testimony for VAC-24-01

Dear Mayor and City Councilors,

I, [Insert Name Here], a resident of [Insert City of Residence], am writing to ask you to deny the right-of-way vacation (VAC-24-01) pursuant to ORS 271.120 based on one of the three approval criteria: prejudice to public interest.

I ask that the City Council make the informed decision to protect public interest by denying the petition to vacate the ROWs identified in VAC-24-01.

Respectfully,
[Insert Name]
