We, the undersigned residents of Vacaville and surrounding Solano County communities, are asking California policymakers to address the growing problem of rodents entering and infesting residential homes.

We support California’s efforts to protect wildlife from unintended exposure to rodenticides. However, residents should not be left without effective options when mice and other rodents are entering occupied homes, damaging property, contaminating living spaces, and creating legitimate health and sanitation concerns.

Many homeowners are finding that traditional prevention and trapping measures are not sufficient to control significant infestations. When rodents are repeatedly entering homes despite reasonable exclusion, sanitation, and trapping efforts, residents and licensed pest-control professionals need additional effective tools.

We respectfully request that California:

Review the current rodenticide restrictions in light of significant residential rodent infestations.
Consider reasonable exemptions or alternative pathways for controlling rodents that are actively invading occupied residences.
Ensure licensed pest-management professionals have effective options when trapping and exclusion alone are unsuccessful.
Provide clear guidance to homeowners about legal and effective methods for controlling residential mice.
Consider the public-health, sanitation, property-damage, and quality-of-life impacts of severe residential rodent infestations when developing future regulations.
Work with communities experiencing widespread infestations to develop practical, science-based rodent-control programs.

We believe California can protect wildlife and protect families and homeowners from serious residential rodent problems. We respectfully ask our elected representatives and regulatory agencies to listen to affected communities and take action.
