Protect Wildlife and Enhance Community Safety
Protect Wildlife and Enhance Community Safety
The Issue
I am a resident of Loganville, Georgia, and I have always admired the natural beauty that surrounds us. The deer that feed on wild persimmon in our yards are a testament to this beauty. However, our local wildlife is under threat due to unchecked speeding on Pate Road between Old Loganville Road and Rosebud Road.
In just two days, two deer have been hit by speeding vehicles. One had its hind legs broken so severely it had to be put down - an incident that brings tears even as I write this petition. This is not just about the wildlife; it's also about community safety.
The constant speeding down Pate Road poses a significant risk to both humans and animals alike. As subdivisions continue being built around us, we're losing more natural habitats for these animals which increases their presence on our roads.
According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), speed bumps can reduce vehicle speeds by 20-25%, making roads safer for all users - pedestrians, motorists and wildlife (source: IIHS). Installing speed bumps along this stretch of road would be an effective solution in curbing excessive speeds while protecting our cherished local fauna.
We must act now before another innocent life is lost or another accident occurs due to reckless driving habits. Let's make Loganville safe again for all its inhabitants - human or otherwise. Please sign this petition urging the local authorities in Loganville, Georgia, USA to install speed bumps on Pate Road between Old Loganville Road and Rosebud road.
