As urban development continues to encroach upon their territories, these donkeys are forced to traverse hazardous roads in search of food, water, and shelter. This represents a failure in our responsibility to coexist harmoniously with wildlife.

Implementing strategic solutions can mitigate the risks these animals face. Some effective measures include installing wildlife fencing constructing, designated animal  crossings speed tables (These are long, flat-topped raised asphalt sections (usually 22 feet long) that allow vehicles to pass over safely at 25 to 30 mph. They create a gradual rise that forces speeders to slow down without launching the vehicle.) Last, Rumble Strips and Optical Speed Bars Transverse rumble strips (grooves cut into the pavement across the lane) and optical speed bars (painted lines spaced progressively closer together) create physical and visual cues that trick the brain into slowing down. These are highly effective on the approaches to known donkey crossing hotspots.

These measures have already proven successful in other regions dealing with similar wildlife-road conflicts.

Furthermore, outreach programs are essential to educate locals and drivers about the presence of wild donkeys and the significance of preserving these animals. Increased awareness will not only reduce accident rates but will also foster a sense of community ownership towards safeguarding their well-being.
