Protect Whitevale Marsh: Prevent Development and Promote Conservation

Protect Whitevale Marsh: Prevent Development and Promote Conservation
The Issue
The Whitevale Marsh and Nature Group is trying to save a regenerating gravel pit and a thriving marsh along the Seaton trail, north of Whitevale. It is slated to be developed as part of the future Seaton. The Province of Ontario, through Infrastructure Ontario has put it up for sale as part of Seaton Package 10.
The Whitevale Marsh filters water from adjacent fields and this water ends up in Duffins Creek, a freshwater river where trout and salmon spawn each year.
We want to preserve it as a natural parkland and to create a new trailhead and parking off north Road to access the Seaton Trail The City of Pickering Council supports our project but it needs the Province's approval to go ahead. We will bring this petition to our local MPP Peter Bethlenfalvy and to the Minister of Housing and Infrastructure who manages the land (check our blog whitevalemarsh.blogspot.com and instagram @whitevalemarsh)
