The Issue

URGENT UPDATE:

With the news that a $528.7 million contract has officially been awarded as of July 10, 2026  to move forward with the Hudson facility (Big Horn), the clock is ticking faster than ever. Our legal team at Towards Justice has officially invited the Hudson Town Council and Town Attorney to a meeting to review the specific local powers the town can use to stop this. The Mayor has shown openness to sitting down, but we need a massive surge of pressure and signatures right now to show town leadership that the community is watching and demanding a response. Please sign and share this petition today to help us force this meeting!

Stop the Hudson Detention Center in Weld County

We, the residents of Weld County and supporters of human rights across Colorado, strongly oppose the proposed immigrant detention center in Hudson, CO.

Detention centers profit from human suffering. They separate families, traumatize children, and criminalize people for seeking safety and a better life. Building such a facility in our community will not make us safer—it will only spread fear, waste public resources, and tarnish Weld County’s values.

We refuse to allow our county to become a hub for mass incarceration and the mistreatment of immigrants. Instead, we call for investment in community-based alternatives that uphold dignity, compassion, and justice.

We demand that Weld County leaders and state officials:

1. Reject all permits for the proposed Hudson Detention Center.

2. Hold public hearings to ensure transparency and community input.

3. Commit to policies that protect immigrant families and human rights. Together, we can send a clear message: Weld County will not profit from cages.   Sign this petition to stand with our immigrant neighbors and say NO to the Hudson Detention Center.
