PROTECT WASAGA BEACH WETLANDS

PROTECT WASAGA BEACH WETLANDS

The Issue

Wasaga Beach Town Council, by a 5-2 margin, has approved an Amendment to the Town's Official Plan on Tuesday September 27th 2016 which creates another stepping stone for an Unknown Developer to construct approximately 300 Townhouses on lands designated as Provincially Significant Wetlands, Heritage Systems Category 1. The Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority has recently ALTERED the site, which then created the 'developable ' hectares needed for the proposed development.

Many unresolved issues remain including the plan to PROTECT THE WETLANDS from the estimated 1000 residents who will then have unfettered access to the Wetlands causing destruction to the valuable ecosystems and other life.
