Please add your voice to protect a garter snake den near Gimli, MB.

Thousands of snakes at this den are very vulnerable to getting runover by ATVs and dirt bikes.

We need a permanent barricade to prevent this.

This den is on land belonging to the town of Gimli so installing such a  barricade requires the permission of the mayor and council of Gimli RM.

The mayor and council will consider a proposal to allow such a barricade at their November 19, 2025 meeting.

Please sign this petition asking mayor and council to approve this proposal and grant their permission for a barricade to protect these snakes and their den site.

This barricade will be privately funded and will not cost tax payers anything.

And it will not prevent ATVers and dirt bikers from accessing every part of this town-owned land except for the very small area around the snake den. 

Manitoba's Interlake is famous for its garter snakes and these are a popular tourist attraction.

We owe it to our kids and all future generations to ensure these garter snakes are safe.
