Petition updateProtect Vulnerable Canadians: Access to COVID-19 Monoclonal Antibodies & Long COVID TrialsPetition Update — July 2025 A new path to treatment: Invivyd’s SPEAR Study Group will test Pemgarda

A major announcement

Invivyd—developer of Pemgarda (FDA-authorized) and the next-generation antibody VYD2311—has launched the SPEAR Study Group (Spike Protein Elimination And Recovery). Led by Drs. Michael Peluso, Amy Proal, and David Putrino, SPEAR will design controlled, multi-centre trials that:

• Use Pemgarda or VYD2311 (not earlier antibodies like AER002).

• Focus on people with Long COVID or Post-Vaccination Syndrome who show evidence of persistent spike protein / viral reservoirs.

• Measure safety, immune changes, and exploratory symptom improvement—laying the groundwork for definitive efficacy studies.

A prior mAb trial (AER002) did not improve symptoms, but experts believe higher-potency antibodies—and proper dosing—are key. Pemgarda and VYD2311 bring that fresh potential.

Where Canada stands

Pemgarda is still unavailable here; Health Canada lacks an immune-bridging pathway.

No Canadian trial sites have (yet) been announced for SPEAR.

Without policy change, patients may be shut out of the very studies that could help them.

Petition progress & renewed hope

We’ve reached 722 signatures! Each name is a reminder that real people are still suffering, waiting, and hoping.

SPEAR shows science is moving; with the right policy, Canadians can benefit too.

Next steps

Contact Invivyd & SPEAR investigators to request Canadian sites.

We’ve sent our third follow-up to Health Canada, plus a phone call—highlighting SPEAR, Pemgarda’s Phase 3 data, and the urgent need for an immune-bridging pathway. We’re awaiting a response.

Keep pushing: contact your MP, provincial health minister, and Health Canada. Explain why Canada must join this wave of research.
