Why this petition matters

Started by Amelia Fairgrieve

The University of Warwick is privileged to host an array of wildlife. However, unfortunately not enough is being done to protect our nature.
On Saturday 11th of June I witnessed a careless driver on Kirby Corner road (outside of Westwood campus) collide with a badger and speed off. The driver paid no attention to our hazard lights and the poor innocent creature paid the price for that person needing to get on their way just a bit faster.
The speed at which drivers fly down this road is a danger not just to wildlife but to students too. I am calling on the university to erect signs on this road warning drivers to slow and making them aware of the presence of badgers/other wildlife.
I couldn’t do anything more for that beautiful female badger than set her on the side of the road to die in peace but we can do more for the rest of our campus nature.
Don’t let her death be in vain please sign this petition and support this cause. I have a letter I will be submitting to the University along with this petition, let’s make our concerns heard!
