More than four years after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, thousands of Ukrainian families in the United States continue to face uncertainty about their immigration status and ability to work.

Many Ukrainians who entered the United States through Uniting for Ukraine or who rely on Temporary Protected Status have followed every requirement. They have found jobs, paid taxes, supported their families, learned English, and contributed to American communities.

Yet many are now facing prolonged delays involving humanitarian re-parole, Temporary Protected Status, Employment Authorization Documents, and other USCIS applications.

These delays can have serious consequences. A person can file an application correctly and on time, but still lose work authorization while waiting for the government to process the case. This can mean losing a job, health insurance, financial stability, and the ability to support children or elderly family members.

American employers are affected as well. Businesses can lose experienced and reliable employees simply because immigration paperwork remains pending.

Ukrainian families are not asking to avoid the law or receive special treatment. They are asking for timely processing, clear rules, and protection from losing their livelihoods because of government processing delays.

We respectfully call on the United States Congress, the Department of Homeland Security, and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services to:

• Expedite properly filed Ukrainian humanitarian re-parole, TPS, and employment authorization applications.

• Provide clear and transparent information about processing times and delayed cases.

• Protect eligible Ukrainians from losing employment authorization solely because a timely filed application remains pending.

• Expand or extend employment authorization protections where legally possible.

• Support a stable and realistic legal pathway for eligible Ukrainian humanitarian parolees and TPS holders.

• Continue humanitarian protections for Ukrainian families while returning to Ukraine remains unsafe.

The United States gave Ukrainian families safety during an extraordinary humanitarian crisis. Many of these families now work, pay taxes, raise children, support American businesses, and contribute to their communities.

They should not lose their jobs or fall into legal uncertainty simply because their applications remain unprocessed for months.
