Last year the world made an ambitious promise: to end extreme poverty by 2030. We can only make this happen if aid reaches the poorest people and the poorest countries.
 
Yet the proportion of aid to the poorest countries in the world is at its lowest level for 10 years.
 
We know that governments are facing tough funding decisions in the face of a range of international pressures - from the refugee crisis to terrorism. But delving into aid budgets is not the answer.
 
European governments must meet the needs of refugees and respect their rights, but it shouldn’t be the world’s poorest who foot the bill. Whilst some governments are showing leadership, others are forcing a deadly trade off by diverting life-saving aid away from the poorest countries to cover refugee costs at home.

We are calling on leaders to make sure the choices they make on aid in the coming months don’t mean the poorest people lose out on an education or healthcare.
 
Tell European leaders to provide for refugees and ensure that aid is focused on fighting extreme poverty, prioritising the countries and people that have the least.
