Protect the Montclair Township Animal Shelter and the Animals Within It

The Issue

Many lives have depended on the Montclair Township Animal Shelter—the lives of numerous rescues who now have loving homes, including our own. We witnessed the compassionate work of the shelter, by not only providing a safe haven for homeless animals, but also by aiding families in feeding their pets, thus preventing the heart-wrenching decision of euthanasia.

This shelter stands as a beacon of hope, especially in a nation where many shelters resort to ending lives due to space constraints. In Essex County alone, euthanasia rates for shelter animals have been disturbingly high. Our Montclair Township Animal Shelter, however, continues to fight this trend and works tirelessly to house and care for these innocent lives.

The Montclair Animal Shelter provides: A Pet Pantry with pet food and supplies for owners in need; Animal control services to the residents of Montclair Township;  Caring for and housing stray, abandoned and surrendered animals; Animal Welfare education for schools, businesses and community groups; adopting pets to a public increasingly interested in animal rescue; A Surrender Prevention Program connecting pet owners with resources to help overcome barriers to pet ownership;  Volunteer opportunities for a wide variety of constituents including senior citizens, teenagers, and persons with disabilities;  Seniors for Seniors Program providing senior citizens with resources to retain their pets and the ability to foster and adopt senior shelter animals; Internship opportunities for individuals interested in a career in animal welfare and Obedience training and other educational programming to assist pet owners

Closing our beloved shelter would be a blow not only to the homeless animals within its walls but also to thousands of proud pet parents and donors who believe in its mission. We need to keep the Montclair Township Animal Shelter functioning. For us, and for the countless families it has served, this isn't just an issue—it's a deeply personal fight for doing what's right.

Let us make our voices heard, and let us protect the Montclair Township Animal Shelter and the innocent lives it serves.✍️ Please, sign the petition!
