Dear supporters, thanks to more than 27,000 of you, our fight to protect the last remaining healthy Tasmanian Devil population in northern Tasmania continues. Tonight, the Circular Head council votes yet again to reduce the speed limit on the Woollnorth road from 100 to 80 kmph. Can you help by urging the council to make the right decision?

Even celebrity conservationist, Terri Irwin, has backed our calls to reduce the speed limit and has written to them to protect this precious population.

Devils are at the edge of extinction since the outbreak of the infectious facial tumor that caused 80% of their population to decline. This small stretch of Woollnorth road is one of the few areas that still has disease-free devils left.

This move will reduce travel time for trucks by just four minutes but is crucial for the survival of our native animals. Despite evidence that reducing speed can help protect our dying devils, the Council has rejected this safety measure last month.

The local community is heartbroken finding dead bodies of devils nearly every morning. The death toll doesn’t even include the babies that were left to starve to death after their mothers are killed.

Thanks to the support of thousands of people who have signed our petition, we have been able to convince the business owners on this road to support the change.

Now we need your help to convince the Council to think about the wildlife.

I hope to share back positive news after the council meeting tonight!
