The public feedback town hall is tomorrow and so far there is very little available information. No agenda, no listed speakers, no procedures. The description says, "The meeting includes a facilitated discussion and a Q&A session, providing stakeholders the ability to share their views as we work to shape the Museum’s future."
It's one hour, so it's unclear how much "public feedback" they actually expect to get alongside "hearing from experts in ethics, museology, medical history, disability studies, and institutional genealogy" who are handpicked by College of Physicians of Philadelphia.
Is there a cap on attendance? Will there be a hard stop at 6:30? Will there be an ASL interpreter? Will they try to block specific people from entry? The truth is we simply can't know what to expect.
One thing we can prepare is ourselves. If you are attending in person, come early so you get a seat. We are attending to engage and be heard. We must effectively communicate our concerns about the administration. Participation is limited to in-person attendees and this will be the only in-person town hall so we have to make it count. Thousands of people will be watching online, denied the opportunity to participate.
Organizers from PTM will be in attendance with remarks for the Q&A. We are committing to presenting our case with the utmost decorum and respect. The administration has no legitimate reason to bar us from entry but we must be prepared for that attempt.
If you have any questions, share concerns, etc. please do not hesitate to reach out. This event will be recorded. We at Protect the Mütter take the responsibility of representing our supporters, the over 35,000 signers of our petition, incredibly seriously. We want you to know we are approaching this opportunity with the utmost care and forethought.
We appreciate all our incredible supporters. Together we can Protect the Mütter.
