For over a century, football has been built on the foundation of Sporting Merit. We love this game because it is a test of endurance and depth—where rotation, grit, and the "grind" of the season determine the true champion.

But in the 2025–26 season, that foundation is being systematically dismantled.

Currently, leagues like France's Ligue 1 are unilaterally postponing domestic matches for "flagship" clubs like Paris Saint-Germain to give them up to 10 days of rest between Champions League knockout ties. Meanwhile, their opponents in leagues like the Premier League or La Liga are forced to play high-intensity domestic fixtures just 48 to 72 hours before a European semi-final.

This isn’t a fair competition; it is a manufactured advantage.

Why This Must Stop Now:

• Artificial Advantage: A Champions League finalist should not have a massive physical advantage over an opponent simply because their domestic league decided to "clear the schedule." This turns the world’s greatest club competition into a trial of logistics rather than talent.

• Domestic Collateral Damage: When a game is postponed to help one elite club, the rest of the league suffers. Clubs like RC Lens and FC Nantes are being punished with brutal fixture congestion and "death weeks" later in the season just to accommodate the rest of a rival.

• The "Asterisk" Era: If a trophy is won by a team that didn't have to face the same physical hurdles as everyone else, that title is devalued. It "sanitizes" the sport and removes the human element of fatigue that has always been part of the game's magic.

Our Demands to UEFA and European Leagues:

1. A Standardized European Calendar: Implement a binding UEFA regulation that prohibits domestic leagues from postponing matches purely for "rest" during European knockout stages.

2. Strict Rescheduling Limits: Allow matches to be moved within the same weekend (e.g., from Sunday to Friday) to maximize recovery, but ban the practice of postponing fixtures to a different month.

3. Level the Playing Field: Ensure that all clubs participating in the Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League operate under a transparent, standardized rest protocol to maintain competitive balance.

Football belongs to the fans, not the accountants. We demand a return to a game where the winner is decided on the pitch, under equal conditions, without the interference of protective scheduling.
