Protect the Hong Kong Star Ferry

Protect the Hong Kong Star Ferry
Why this petition matters
Our beloved Star Ferry is under threat of closure due to financial difficulties of running the service.
This magical ferry service has its humble beginnings in 1880 when Dorabjee Naorojee Mithaiwala decided to give up cooking and start ferrying people between Hong Kong Island and Kowloon aboard his steamboat the Morning Star.
There is no stronger cultural or historical symbol in this city than the Star Ferry service, it’s disappearance would be like removing the Empire State Building in New York, or knocking down the Taj Mahal.
This petition has been created by Alexis Holm at Tiny Island maps, with the aim to protect the future of the ferry service by putting pressure on the government of Hong Kong to make it a part of the intangible cultural heritage of the city, and guarantee its future operation by any means necessary.
Please join me in voicing your concern about the possible closure of the Star Ferry service by signing this petition.
Together we can keep it afloat.
Thank you
