I am a resident of Millgrove, and my property is home to a family of powerful owls. These magnificent creatures require at least 1000 hectares of territory to survive, yet their habitat is under threat. The Yarra Ranges council and the State government of Victoria are planning to build over 160 kilometers of mountain bike tracks in this area, which could have devastating effects on our local wildlife.

Powerful owls are already listed as vulnerable in Victoria. They play an essential role in maintaining the balance in our ecosystem by controlling rodent populations. If their habitat is destroyed or significantly reduced, it could lead to an increase in pests and a decrease in biodiversity.

We urge the Yarra Ranges council and State government of Victoria to reconsider this project. There are alternative locations for these bike tracks that would not disrupt wildlife habitats so drastically.
