In the midst of it all, things continue to heat up. We won TWO federal cases against the Pine Island destructioneers. They are appealing that and they have also filed a new case claiming "reverse discrimination" due to the fact that the St. Helena Island Cultural Protection Overlay (CPO) District protects Gullah/Geechee culture. SMH! Culture is not race!
The South Carolina Environmental Law Project (SCELP) just filed the Gullah/Geechee Sea Island Coalition's intervention for this new case so that we can continue actively fight to continue to protect the CPO along with Beaufort County.
