It is imperative to show up on Monday to remind the County Council that the people have spoken. Protect the CPO and don’t allow a golf resort that violates St. Helena’s community-led rules.
Encourage Beaufort County Council to remain steadfast in their 10-1 vote to deny the Pine Island development agreement and thank them for standing with St. Helena Island and its Gullah/Geechee community.
On September 22, the council arrived at an informed decision after an 8 hour meeting where they heard extensively from staff, their constituents, and the developer's attorneys.
To rescind the vote at this juncture would betray the public's trust in the process. What's more, such a reversal would be a disservice to community members that endured a marathon meeting, that lasted until nearly 2:00 am, to ensure their voices were heard.
As we approach 2026, implore the Council to defend the Cultural Protection Overlay into the new year. Join us we ask our leaders to deny the motion to rescind. Tell Council to reaffirm their commitment to protect St. Helena Island from golf courses, resorts, and gated communities! Hol pun de Gullah/Geechee epicenta ya!
