Penn Center Continues to Stand Up for the Cultural Protection Overlay District!

Peace All!
Penn Center has been at the forefront of raising funds and assisting native Gullah/Geechees with heirs property and land retention for decades. The Gullah/Geechee Sea Island Coalition continues to support their fundraising efforts not only for the institution but also for the land use fund that Penn Center has. On Saturday, September 21st from 11 am to 1 pm, the "Untangling Heirs Property Workshop" will be held for FREE at Penn Center's Frissell Community House. Donations toward the land use fund can be made to Penn Center ahead of or on that day.
Penn Center has continued to stand as one of the intervening entities to protect the Cultural Protection Overlay (CPO) District of St. Helena Island. Executive Director Robert Adams made this outstanding speech in that regard at the Beaufort County Council meeting on Monday, September 9, 2024:
