Protect the forest patch from being cleared for housing development

Protect the forest patch from being cleared for housing development
The Issue
Silver Garden, a three-story, 55,000 sf housing complex right along one of the main trails at Franny Reese State Park is about to be approved by the Planning Board and Town Board of the Town of Lloyd. Not only park users would be hiking along the construction site for 14 months or more, this development would bring irreversible damage to the green space.
Many people in the community recognize the value and need for housing developments, including affordable housing. However, developments need to be SMART and well-planned, not just ripping the green space and the town apart for developments in whatever shape or form that the developers want.
Despite local residents raising many concerns on both the short and long term negative impacts this Silver Garden project would bring from the environmental and societal perspectives, the Town Board and Planning Board are about to give the green light for this project.
Franny Reese State Park is owned by Palisades Interstate Parks Commission (PIPC) and managed by Scenic Hudson. Scenic Hudson, has raised its concerned at various Planning Board meetings (on February 11, February 22 and March 25, 2021) that clearing the forest on this development site “would have an adverse impact on the forest patch that includes this site, the new parcel proposed by the subdivision, Franny Reese State Park, as well as the populations of plants and wildlife that are there and beyond...."
Please sign and share this petition. Show the Town Board and the Planning Board that there are many people who utilize and cherish this green space we all share as a community.
