The Issue

The  Philippine eagle, also the national bird of the Philippines, is facing an alarming threat. The cause of this is illegal logging, which has reduced a lot of the land that the eagle's live in. This issue is important because if the Philippine eagle goes extinct, other species also go extinct because the Philippine eagle is a umbrella species, which protects other species from getting killed by eating their predators.

Sadly, there are only about 400 pairs remaining in the wild, and their numbers continue to decrease due to the increasing destruction of their habitat.

Illegal logging has removed a lot of land in the forests. This lead to habitat loss for countless wildlife species, and the Philippine eagle is the most affected. These eagles require massive territories of untouched rainforests to hunt and thrive. If we don't stop this immediately, we could lose the Philippine eagle.

Strengthening enforcement against illegal logging and increasing funding for forest conservation initiatives are very important, forest conservation initiatives help the Philippine eagle survive by enforcing better protection in the Rainforests. Public awareness campaigns and community education programs will play a important role in preservation efforts.

Let's advocate for legislation that protects these forest areas and creates stricter penalties for people who engage in illegal logging. By improving and implementing new policies, we can help restore the natural habitats of the Philippine eagle which will save it from endangerment.

Help me raise awareness to protect the Philippine eagle. Sign this petition to make our government and local authorities take action against illegal logging and to prioritize the conservation of this magnificent bird. Together, we can make a lasting change for the endangered Philippine eagle. Please sign and share this petition.
