Petition updatePROTECT THE CORPUS CHRISTI BAY: A demand for better science on desalinationCity Council to spend up to $50 million on the Inner Harbor Plant this Tuesday

Hey, so I have some good news / bad news updates regarding the Inner Harbor. The good news is the City has done additional near field and far field modeling for the Inner Harbor desalination project. The bad news is the City has only shared limited results and details regarding the model and have yet to confirm when additional information will be shared with residents. Additionally, some critical details regarding the modeling and its setup may be withheld due to it containing ‘proprietary information’. This development is highly concerning because it prevents residents from being able to make sure the modeling is accurate.

Tomorrow on Tuesday, City Council will be voting on spending an additional $20 million to $50 million to take the Inner Harbor from a 10% design level to a 30% or 60% design level. If you are concerned about City Council spending more money on the Inner Harbor when the potential environmental impacts are still not well understood, please let them know. You can call them, you can write them, or you can come to the City Council meeting on Tuesday and tell them to give us the data in person. Be sure to sign up for Agenda Item #16, registration is open from Monday at 8 AM to Tuesday at 11:30 AM. Having this data is one of the few tools that residents have to ensure that their $1.2 billion investment in the Inner Harbor will pay off. Please speak up if you can.

Cheers

Jason
