Hello!

We are lucky enough to live in beautiful Cornwall, a wonderful part of the world with swathes of breathtaking scenery. It’s home of the Cornish pasty, the jam first cream tea (yep - controversial)and the chip-stealing seagull…which have protected status!

Yes, that’s right, seagulls are legally protected from harm; movement of their nests, disturbance and killing them is against the law. But do you know who aren’t legally protected? BEES!

It is NOT illegal to kill or damage bees and their nests, despite them being the main pollinator of the crops that we eat.

We quite literally cannot live without them, but are not doing all we can to protect them!

The potatoes that make those chips which the seagulls swoop down and pinch from your hungry hands wouldn’t exist without our hard-working friends, but it is completely legal to destroy their nests and kill their colonies.

Help the bees and ask that the government change this!

WE ASK THAT BEES ARE GIVEN LEGALLY PROTECTED STATUS WHERE NESTS, HIVES AND COLONIES ARE PROTECTED FROM INTENTIONAL HARM, DISTURBANCE OR DAMAGE.
