Protect the Aravali range from demolition

Protect the Aravali range from demolition
The Issue
Growing up in the shadow of the majestic Aravali Range, I have seen firsthand the immense beauty and ecological richness these ancient mountains bring to our lives. Every week, without fail, I, along with fellow nature lovers, trekkers, and devotees from various faiths, flock to the temples and mosques nestled within these ranges. For our community, the Aravalis are not merely mountains; they are the lungs of Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, and Gujarat, breathing life into their ecosystems and nurturing diverse forms of life that call this range home.
Stretching over 950 km and dating back more than 3,000 years, the Aravalis are a protective shield against desertification and a crucial rainwater reservoir for the region. Yet today, they stand threatened by human-induced demolition pressures, turning the dreams of our ancestors into a modern-day tragedy. This is environmentally alarming given that these mountains contribute vitally to clean air and water conservation, ensuring these regions remain fertile and lush.
The ecological importance of the Aravali Range cannot be overstated. These mountains play a vital role in recharging the groundwater level, housing a myriad of wildlife, and providing a natural sanctuary for pilgrims, travelers, and enthusiasts alike. However, constant degradation and illegal mining activities continue to mar their landscape, inching these regions closer to an irreversible environmental crisis.
To preserve this natural heritage, we must demand immediate action from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, and state governments to enforce stricter regulations against harmful activities and initiate restoration projects that revive and protect this ancient range.
Furthermore, we call upon local communities, environmental organizations, and stakeholders to join hands in creating widespread awareness about the significance of the Aravalis. Educational programs aimed at schools and local communities can foster a stronger bond with this land, ensuring the next generation continues our legacy of safeguarding this natural treasure.
The Aravali Range is a symbol of resilience and life for millions. Let us unite to protect it from becoming a barren memory of its past grandeur. Time is of the essence, and we cannot wait for this ecological gem to fade into extinction.
Sign this petition to protect the Aravali Range and preserve its unparalleled ecological and cultural heritage for the generations to come.
