The Issue

I am reaching out to you with a deep concern that affects not only me but also my colleagues and our collective work-life balance. The General Counsel (GC) office of the CTY is in the process of deleting the application of the 746 Bidding Process with no real consideration or consultation of the members. This action, if completed, threatens to severely disrupt the progress and stability of our terminal operations.

The 746 Bidding Process has been instrumental in maintaining an organized and fair application of our seniority as well as our work-life balance. It ensures that employees are given schedules week to week that suit their needs whether it be scheduling appointments, resting, and most importantly quality time with friends and family. The 746 Bidding Process has only fostered a positive work atmosphere and enhancing job satisfaction among the staff. The removal of this application without a proper and viable alternative will set back our terminal operations by decades, significantly.

The potential deletion of this application could result in increased work pressure and decreased morale among employees who rely on the structured system to plan their work schedules and manage their responsibilities. This structured approach is crucial in striking a balance between professional and personal life, which is vital for maintaining not only out mental and emotional, but physical well-being.

To address this issue, we propose that the GC office reconsider their decision to delete the process and instead work collaboratively with employees to find and amend issues that can ultimately preserve the positive aspects of the 746 Bidding Process while addressing any concerns they might have.

As we all know too well, life on the railroad is not an easy one. It comes with a constant battle between life and work. Let’s not add another layer of unpredictability that our predecessors worked so hard on establishing.

Your voice can make a difference! By signing this petition, you will join us in urging the GC office to preserve the application of the 746 Bidding Process and protect the welfare and efficiency of our terminal. Together, we can ensure a fair and balanced work environment for all employees.
