The HAP Foundation's Lynda P. Bollman Pediatric Hospice and Palliative Care Program officially and publicly endorsed the efforts of our Texas Child Life Licensing Task Force, to ensure the pathway for CCLS Licensure. They stated that, "Child Life Specialists help our patients and families understand their diagnoses, address the trauma response patients and families experience in hearing they possess a life-limiting diagnosis, assist these families in their identity development as they adjust to a new (and fluid) norm, work with schools and sports programs to understand how to facilitate conversations on a dying patient, and help survivors of childhood loss navigate their grief." And they shared that the, "Texas child life licensure initiative is of extreme interest to our organization as we hope to utilize your work as an example to emulate in Illinois. HAP’s Lynda P. Bollman program supports Texas’ efforts to be a leader in this initiative and looks forward to learning from your experience and expertise to bring similar legislation to Illinois."

Endorsement from organizations that understand and believe in the role and support provided by CCLSs, is incredibly powerful. Our hope is that once Texas passes a law that mandates licensure for CCLSs, it will create an easier pathway for other states to do the same.

You can help make this happen by continuing to share our petition. Anyone from any state can sign and if an organization you work with, or that your run, or that you know supports children and understands that child life services are essential, not optional, is interested in endorsing our efforts, please ask them to reach out to me at cinda.mcdonald@bswhealth.org

Thank you so much for your continued support!  Cinda
