Protect Taber: Stop the Proposed Gun Range!

The Issue

A private developer is attempting to force a commercial gun range complex into the heart of our quiet agricultural community — directly adjacent to grazing land, water sources, homes, and family farms. The proposed range would span around 150 acres, with group training, commercial events, and high-powered firearms being fired just hundreds of feet from livestock, children, and homes.

This is a full-scale business with rotating outsiders, elevated noise levels, environmental risks, and legal protections that will strip our rights as neighbors if it's approved.

We are strong supporters of the Second Amendment and responsible gun ownership — many of us are hunters, veterans, and gun owners ourselves. But this isn't about the right to bear arms — it's about where and how commercial activity is placed.
This is not the right location for a commercial firing range.

If this Conditional Use Permit (CUP) is allowed:

-Our cattle may suffer stress, reproductive loss, or lead poisoning
-Our property values will plummet
-Our access to clean air, peace, and safety will be permanently compromised
-Our agricultural economy will be eroded
-Future families may be barred from building homes or barns near their own property lines

-The site is in an agricultural zone, in direct violation of Bingham County’s Comprehensive Plan and Idaho law.

We, the undersigned residents, farmers, ranchers, and concerned citizens, call on the Bingham County Planning & Zoning Commission to REJECT this irresponsible, incompatible proposal and preserve the health, safety, and integrity of our rural land and families.

This is our land. This is our water. This is our future.

(The proposed location is around 1600 w taber road.)
