Several potential pickleball plans are outlined in a new report for tomorrow’s Tues, Oct. 17 City Council meeting.
Please attend and tell the council that you want to protect the green parkland and trees in our city’s parks, and not to cement over these precious park areas for more pickleball. (You can also submit emailed comments by 5 pm tomorrow 10/17)
Alternative #1 in the city report comes closest to protecting Smith Park by leaving the current pickleball and tennis courts as they are. But this proposal could also include future ‘expansion of the court“ Does this mean the tennis court will be converted to pickleball, or another court built on park land? Now is the time to tell the council to leave the courts as they are and not to cement over precious park, trees and Gabrieleno heritage!
Another alternative suggests Lugo Park for pickleball - again threatening our city’s limited parkland and trees.
Help protect San Gabriel’s few parks with their precious trees and green lawns!
