SMALL BUSINESSES SUPPORT PETITION

We petition to Protect Small Businesses from Overreaching Code Enforcement Officer Mr. Kevin Ely. We hereby want him REMOVED from his position.

We ask to provide Fair, Reasonable, and Consistent Enforcement in Greenwood City & County

What began as isolated incidents has grown into a broader community concern. Multiple small businesses, nonprofits, and even public-service organizations have been impacted. In one instance, a “Need Volunteers” sign was removed from a local fire department, raising serious questions about priorities, discretion, and common sense in enforcement.

Small business owners and community organizations across Greenwood are experiencing increased stress and disruption due to overreaching and inconsistent code enforcement practices, particularly related to signage.

We believe in small, accountable government that works with the community, not against it. Enforcement should protect public safety and order, not create unnecessary hardship, confusion, or fear for those trying to serve and support Greenwood.
