I, as a former volunteer at Seymour's Bird Refuge for over 10 years and an adopter of 5 birds from the shelter, am deeply concerned about the recent unsubstantiated anonymous gossip that seeks to exploit the vulnerable birds in this sanctuary and harm its dedicated owner. 

 

Seymour's Bird Refuge is a privately owned and owner funded program that provides a safe haven for distressed and traumatized animals. The refuge not only rehabilitates these complex creatures but also strives to find them loving homes with responsible individuals who will not retraumatize or abandon them.

My personal experience with Seymour's has shown me the incredible dedication of its owner towards the well-being of these birds. I have witnessed her selflessness firsthand as she prioritizes feeding and caring for the animals before even considering her own needs. Time after time, I have seen her go above and beyond to ensure that every bird receives proper veterinary care, even if it means sacrificing her own resources.

The bond between Seymour's Bird Refuge and its owner is undeniable. It is evident in their tireless efforts to provide a safe environment where these vulnerable creatures can heal, grow, and thrive. This refuge has become more than just a place; it is a sanctuary built on love, compassion, trust, and respect.

However, a recent petition circulated anonymously (ie without accountability) threaten to tarnish this reputation built over years of hard work. This malignant ne'er-do-well aims to exploit both the birds within this refuge as well as its devoted owner for their personal gain or satisfaction.

We must stand together against such baseless accusations by signing this petition in support of protecting Seymour's Bird Refuge from any harm or exploitation caused by those spreading false information without any substantiation.

Let us remember that change.org petitions are powerful tools when backed by facts and true accounts.

--If I get permission from the owner, I will upload more accurate pictures of this program that tell the full story. Stories like Marley who has a deep trauma history, trembles with new experiences, trusts only the owner and tolerates few others and the hours upon hours that the owner has spent doting on her and experimenting different ways to try to help her stop self plucking.

--Charlie whom I can count going to the vet at least five times that I saw in my two hours a week at the program. Charlie was deeply bonded to another bird, had many deep moments of joy in the program. If you ever heard Charlie laugh with Stevie, you may understand why the owner did everything she could to try to heal and improve the bird’s conditions that came from gross neglect before coming to the program.

--or the yellow budgie’s who feathers are literally mussed up because of the vet purchased cream that the shelter owner was using to try to heal the bird of the malaises because the bird was abandoned to the shelter so they would not have to pay for it’s condition.

This shelter takes in the vulnerable and tries to on heal them.
