The Issue

For the members of Robinson Crossing in Olive Branch, MS, the planned development of a convenience store and car wash right next door is not just a mere inconvenience; it's a significant disrupter to our way of life. This proposed construction poses a threat to the tranquility and aesthetic that we have cherished for so many years. The encroachment of this commercial project near our homes, located on the corner of Malone Rd and Church Rd in Olive Branch, MS, means more traffic, increased noise, light pollution, and potential safety issues—an unwanted eyesore that jeopardizes our community's peace and safety.

Adding a convenience store and car wash could significantly escalate the traffic in our area, creating congested roads, longer commute times, and increased air pollution. According to studies by the American Automobile Association (AAA), areas surrounding convenience stores often experience congestion.

Furthermore, the presence of a convenience store and car wash raises environmental concerns. Convenience stores and car washes are known sources of soil and groundwater contamination as they can leak harmful substances like oil and chemicals. A report from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) shows that leakage incidents are common and have long-term detrimental effects on local ecosystems and water supplies, harming plants, wildlife, and possibly, our health.

It's worth noting that our neighborhood already has access to three gas stations within a 1-mile radius of the proposed site, all located on Church Road, with one having been built in the last year. The addition of another convenience store and car wash would be redundant and detrimental to our community.

Through this petition, we urge the Olive Branch planning commission and local governing bodies to reconsider allowing this convenience store and car wash's construction. We need to prioritize the health, safety, and well-being of our neighborhood's residents over commercial gains. The protection of our community environment should be a priority, preserving the peace and integrity that makes Robinson Crossing a desirable place to live.

Please join us in opposing this development. Sign this petition to voice your support against the convenience store and car wash proposal and to protect the essence of our community. Together, let's ensure that our neighborhood remains a haven of serenity and safety for future generations.
