Waterfront neighborhoods and parks are what make Lake Norman special. Families enjoy backyard activities and neighbors delight in the peaceful character that has defined our community for generations. Our town's waterfront is not just a geographic location; it is a cherished way of life that brings us together in the spirit of community and tranquility.

But this precious environment faces a threat. The re-zoning for commercial use proposed for residential neighborhoods/park/waterfront areas will disrupt this peaceful existence. Increased traffic, potential environmental degradation, and loss of natural beauty are not scenarios anyone in our community wants to face. We need to act now to protect our waterfront from the encroachment of business interests that do not hold our community values at heart.

Consider the impact of commercial developments on our cherished quality of life.  We deserve to enjoy charming tree lined neighborhoods that have been enjoyed by generations before us. Moreover, the traffic congestion, light pollution, noise and safety concerns will significantly alter life for every resident in proximity to commercial businesses.

The Town Board has the power to protect and preserve our way of life by restricting land use. We propose that the town enforce our strict residential zoning laws that prioritize private home designations over commercial development. By doing so, we are safeguarding the interests of the entire community and ensuring that our waterfront remains a treasure for generations to come.
