Protect religious freedom in Kansas

Protect religious freedom in Kansas
The Issue
I’m a pastor in Kansas, and I’ve heard a lot about religious freedom lately. But it seems like when it comes to true religious liberty, in the true spirit of our faith, government leaders want to get in the way. A shameful example is happening here in Kansas, where a bill currently being considered by the House will allow Governor Brownback to bar churches and religious organizations from helping a group of people who are most in need -- those fleeing the persecution, torture, and murder of ISIS.
Churches like mine are trying to help refugees who have fled situations that are hard for Americans to even fathom. Most are women and children, many with family already here. All of them had to go through rigorous security checks. There is no reason we should not be able to fulfill our religious duties and help them.
An amendment to the bill, which would have given churches an exemption to the aid prohibition so they could keep helping refugees, was defeated. The bill is now back in committee, and we have to fight to make sure it doesn’t pass.
Please sign to oppose this bill and protect the ability of churches to do what they are meant to do, and minister to those with nowhere else to turn. Allow them to provide aid to refugees as they see fit.
