The Issue

Ravenshead is a unique Nottinghamshire village with a strong community identity, valued green spaces and a character that residents have spent generations building and protecting.

Gedling Borough Council's draft Local Development Plan proposes approximately 920 additional homes around Ravenshead, including a major development of 750 homes at Silverland Farm, alongside further developments at Kighill Lane and Nottingham Road.

We recognise the need for new housing. However, housing growth must be accompanied by investment in roads, healthcare, education and community infrastructure. Any development in our village must be proportionate, supported by infrastructure and carefully planned to protect the community.

Residents have serious concerns regarding:

Increased traffic and congestion on local roads.
Pressure on schools and educational provision.
Access to healthcare services.
Drainage and flood risk.
Loss of countryside and farmland.
Impact on wildlife habitats and green spaces.
The long-term character and identity of Ravenshead as a village community.
A development of this scale could significantly increase the population of Ravenshead and fundamentally alter the nature of the village.

We call upon Gedling Borough Council to:

° Reconsider the scale of development proposed for Ravenshead.

° Demonstrate how infrastructure will be delivered before significant housing development takes place.

° Protect the village's character, countryside and community identity.

° Ensure that any future growth is sustainable, proportionate and supported by appropriate services.

° We support support sustainable and proportionate development.

° We do not support growth that risks overwhelming the infrastructure, environment and character that make Ravenshead special.
