Protect Public Broadcasting Service and National Public Radio against Funding Cuts

Protect Public Broadcasting Service and National Public Radio against Funding Cuts
The Issue
Attention PBS president and CEO Paula Kerger, NPR president and CEO Katherine Maher, and all American citizens for LGBTQIA+ & Transgender community, Democratic senators, governors, and representatives in United States of America. The Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) is an American left-wing public broadcaster and non-commercial, free-to-air television network based in Arlington, Virginia. PBS is a publicly funded nonprofit organization and the most prominent provider of educational programs to public television stations in the United States of America launch on Monday, October 5, 1970, and National Public Radio (NPR) is an American public broadcasting organization headquartered in Washington, D.C. with its NPR West headquarters in Culver City, California. It serves as a national syndicator to a network of more than 1,000 public radio stations in the United States 53 years ago.
I’m deeply concerned and disappointed. On Thursday, May 1, 2025, our Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) and National Public Radio (NPR) are currently under threat from various Republican politicians include, Executive Order 14290, titled "Ending Taxpayer Subsidization of Biased Media", is an executive order signed by the 47th president of the United States of America Donald J. Trump, the chair of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Brendan Carr, the 42nd & 44th Director of the Office of Management and Budget Russell Thurlow Vought, PragerU CEO Marissa Streit, the American right-wing and conservative content analysis and media watchdog group called the Media Research Center (MRC) America’s conservative nonprofit media right-wing watchdog, the Heritage foundation’s Mandate for Leadership series, Project 2025 policy blueprint agenda (also known as the 2025 Presidential Transition Project), and Republican senators & representatives. As someone deeply invested in the preservation of public media, I raise my voice and urge you to join me in our fight to protect these media outlets from potential devastating impacts.
Let me tell you something. These outlets have offered invaluable services to our community for years. PBS and NPR have consistently provided a platform for education, culture, and unbiased news to millions of consumers, irrespective of their socioeconomic status. A study by The Pew Research Center (also simply known as Pew) shows that 70% of Americans view NPR and PBS positively. Yet, their federal funding is being threatened, which poses a significant risk to the accessibility and diversity of our media landscape. We challenge the proposed federal funding cuts to prevent silencing a powerful source of community engagement and national debate. This petition stands against racist president Donald J. Trump's Executive Order 14290, U.S. House Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Mike Johnson, Republican Senators, Republican Governors, White House director of the office management and budget Russell Thurlow Vought, PragerU CEO Marissa Streit, and the president signed the Rescissions Act of 2025 into law those backing these potential funding cuts. We take a stand to protect these bastions of independent journalism and public service broadcasting that have become cornerstones in our democratic society.
Let it be clear! It’s time to stand up, fight back and support PBS and NPR! We need to Call your democratic representatives and senators to protect the future of public media federal funding and help us raise our voice not only to protect our cherished PBS and NPR but also to promote the right of access to unbiased information for all American people. Preserve the integrity and diversity of our media against facist and right-wing conservatives. Please sign our petition now to save public television and radio stations nationwide and across the country. Anyway, Visit protectmypublicmedia.org and contact your democratic representatives and senators to restore Public Media funding. Public Broadcasting is NOT going anywhere, PBS and NPR will continue its operations in 2026 before it’s too late! Thank you very much, Let’s Defend PBS and NPR right now, Immigrants will keep fighting and save PBS Kids 24/7 channel! Impeach Donald J. Trump!
