The Issue

I am a parent in Connecticut, and I feel strongly about the need to protect the privacy and safety of our children in school bathrooms. Every child deserves to feel safe and secure when they go to school, and that includes having a private space to use the restroom. As a mother, I want to make sure my daughter and her friends have a bathroom environment where they feel comfortable and protected.

The recent policies allowing transgender students to use the bathroom of their choice have raised concerns among many parents in our community. While it is essential to respect the rights of all students, it is also important to consider the feelings and dignity of our daughters. Children should not have to worry about who might enter as they use these facilities meant for girls.

There is a balance that can be struck, one that respects everyone's rights equally without infringing on their comfort and safety. We propose that alternative solutions such as individual restrooms or privacy blinds can provide an inclusive and respectful environment for all students.

According to a study by the American Academy of Pediatrics, transgender youth report facing significant psychological stress; however, creating separate facilities specifically for those needing them could alleviate tensions for all, offering relief and a compromise.

This petition calls upon school boards across Connecticut to review and amend their bathroom policies to ensure that all students feel safe and respected. Let's work together to create a welcoming education environment for everyone.

Please stand with us in this effort to protect our children's right to privacy and safety. Sign and share this petition to encourage our schools to find a fair solution that meets the needs of all students.
