Dear Colorado Official,

Potato is a dog living in Denver who is terrified of fireworks. After years of frustration and failed attempts to calm her anxiety, Potato's mom finally decided there was only one thing left she could do: convince people to stop supporting aerial fireworks and turn toward better alternatives (like drone shows!) 

Aerial fireworks are the type that explode in the sky and create a loud concussive BOOM heard for miles. There are many reasons to oppose these specific fireworks:

1. They terrify pets and wildlife

 2. They trigger PTSD in veterans

3. They can be distressing for autistic people (like Potato's mom)

4. They injure 10,000 - 15,000 people and kill roughly a dozen people per year

5. They cause nearly 35,000 unintentional fires per year

6. They are environmental pollutants (land, water,  and air)

Aerial fireworks are essentially recreational bombs which should not exist in any sane society. We have a lot of work to do in order to fully end the use of aerial fireworks, but for starters, we ask that you replace any upcoming city-sponsered firework displays with drone shows that everyone (including Potato!) can enjoy. Will you Protect Potato?
