The Issue

Protect Political Prisoners in Iran — Immediate International Action Required
We are members of the Iranian diaspora, joined by allies around the world.

As war escalates and instability grows, political prisoners inside Iran face immediate and life-threatening danger. When regimes feel threatened, prisoners are often the first targets — silenced, used as leverage, or erased entirely.

These individuals are not criminals. They are journalists, students, lawyers, doctors, artists, labor organizers, women’s rights advocates, and peaceful dissidents. Many of Iran’s brightest minds are behind bars simply for demanding dignity and freedom.

Now, their lives are at even greater risk.

The Urgent Threat
Credible reports from international human rights organizations document patterns of:

Unfair trials and arbitrary detention
Torture and inhumane conditions
Denial of legal representation
Enforced disappearances
Accelerated executions during times of political instability
In times of war, executions can increase. Prisons can become targets. Detainees can disappear without accountability.

We cannot allow that to happen.

We Demand Immediate Action:
Immediate and unconditional release of all political prisoners
Immediate moratorium on all executions
Absolute no-strike protection for all prisons and detention centers
Defined safety buffer zones prohibiting bombing near prisons
Independent international prison monitoring with unrestricted access
Emergency evacuation or relocation of prisoners away from military targets
Full transparency: a public registry of all detainees and their locations
Prohibition on the use of prisons for military purposes
Prisoner protections included as non-negotiable conditions in any diplomatic negotiations
Immediate international investigation and accountability for violations
These are not abstract policy requests. They are life-saving measures.

We Call On:
The United Nations to demand immediate monitoring access and public reporting
Governments engaged in diplomatic negotiations to make prisoner protections non-negotiable
International human rights bodies to initiate urgent investigations
World leaders to publicly and unequivocally condemn executions and retaliation against detainees
Silence creates space for abuse. Public pressure creates protection.

Why This Matters
Political prisoners represent the conscience of a nation. Many of them are future leaders, reformers, and architects of a democratic Iran. If they are silenced, Iran loses part of its future. We refuse to let that happen quietly.
