Protect PlayStation players' consumer rights
The Issue
I have been a loyal PlayStation player for years and have invested significant money into consoles, games, subscriptions, and the PlayStation ecosystem. After moving to another country, I realized how little control players actually have over what we pay for.
My PlayStation account remained tied to my original country, affecting my currency, payment methods, and purchases. That made me look more closely at the bigger direction PlayStation is taking and I believe players deserve better.
The main issues are:
1-Digital Ownership — If we pay full price for a game, we deserve lasting access to what we purchased.
2-Physical Games & Disc Drives -Keep physical games and disc drives alive. Players deserve the choice between physical and digital.
3- Currency & Regional Pricing — Make regional prices, currency conversion, and payment restrictions fair and transparent.
Account Regions — Allow players who genuinely relocate to change their account country without losing purchases, subscriptions, trophies, or progress.
4- Account & Purchased Games — Losing access to an account should not automatically mean losing hundreds or thousands of dollars of legitimately purchased games.
5-Terms & Consumer Rights — Major changes to PlayStation’s terms should be clearly communicated and should respect existing customers and purchases.
We love PlayStation, but loyalty works both ways. Sony should remember that players have choices. The same community that helped make PlayStation successful can choose PC, Xbox, or other platforms if consumer choice, ownership, and control continue to be reduced.
