Dear New Paltz Community, Ulster County, and the State of New York, and SUNY,

As some of you know, SUNY New Paltz and the town of New Paltz suffered a tragic loss. Ray was walking home from his second day of classes of the Spring 2024 semester on Tuesday, January 23rd. On his walk home along 208, Ray was fatally hit by a car. Cowardly, the driver sped off. Ray was found the following day on Rt208, prompting the closure of the road. All that is known at this time is the person was driving a black sedan that sustained damage to the front end. The driver and car make or model have not been identified at this time. Please keep an eye out for any cars that fit this description, especially if you live near any of the local mechanics and body shops.

This petition calls for all authoritative bodies in the New Paltz area to create sidewalks along 208, specifically, and dedicate the stretch of sidewalk to Ray. #RaysWay I demand New Paltz protect their pedestrians and install this sidewalk and conduct analysis of the village of new paltz to determine other areas that need sidewalks. I also want to raise awareness for pedestrian safety across the state, specifically in areas surrounding SUNY campuses. 

Please help protect our pedestrians. 

Lastly, I send my deepest thoughts and prayers during this difficult time to the friends, family, and everyone who had the honor of knowing Ray. This community is strong and we will get justice and peace for Ray
