Petition to the United States Government:
Protect American Citizens in Deir Debwan from Israeli Settler Violence
The Issue
We, the undersigned American citizens, urgently call on the United States government and the U.S. Embassy in Israel to take immediate, concrete steps to protect American lives and property in Deir Debwan and surrounding areas of the West Bank.
Despite holding U.S. citizenship, Palestinian Americans in Deir Debwan face life-threatening attacks, harassment, and severe movement and property restrictions. Reports include:
- Armed settlers held American Palestinians at gunpoint, confiscated over 1,000 sheep, threatening their lives.
- Israeli settlers confronted a man at gunpoint, forcibly taking his car and endangering his life.
- Settlers have blocked access to privately owned land, preventing American Palestinians from farming.
- Police reports were filed as instructed by the IDF, yet there has been no response from the proper authorities.
- Crimes by Israeli settlers remain unsolved and unpunished despite police reports encouraging them to continue without consequence.
The majority of American citizens in Deir Debwan are women and children, living peacefully, raising families, and attending school. Yet, they face constant fear from ongoing settler attacks. These innocent families endure relentless violence and intimidation, shattering their safety. This is not an isolated issue but a pattern of targeted aggression. Palestinian Americans are law-abiding, tax-paying citizens who fulfill all U.S. obligations. They deserve the same protection as any other American citizen.
We respectfully urge the U.S. Government to take the following steps:
- We respectfully urge His Excellency, U.S. Ambassador to Israel, Mr. Mike Huckabee, and Mr. Hans Wechsel, Chief of the U.S. Office of Palestinian Affairs, to visit Deir Debwan, witness the challenges firsthand, and engage in discussions to ensure the safety and rights of American citizens.
- Equal Diplomatic Protection for American Palestinians – Ensure that Palestinian Americans in Deir Debwan receive the same level of diplomatic protections as other U.S. citizens abroad.
- Public Condemnation of Settler Violence – Issue strong and unequivocal statements condemning violence against American Palestinians and demand accountability from Israeli authorities.
- We urge the U.S. Consulate to exert diplomatic pressure on the IDF to remove Israeli settlers from Palestinian-owned land.
A Call for Justice
We, the undersigned, demand swift and decisive action from the U.S. Consulate to protect the lives, rights, and well-being of American Palestinians in Deir Debwan. The U.S. government has a duty to safeguard its citizens, regardless of ethnicity or national background. By signing this petition, we reaffirm that every American deserves equal protection under the law. We call for immediate intervention to end the violence and ensure justice for those affected.
Sign this petition to stand with your fellow Palestinian Americans. Demand immediate protection, justice, and accountability.
