Protect Human Rights: Release Shahrez Khan Now

Pakistan's No. 1 triathlete, Shahrez Khan, was wrongfully accused of being present in Lahore to support a political rally. The truth is undeniable: Shahrez was in Chitral, spending time with his wife, young daughters, and close friends. Photographs, timestamps, and multiple witnesses confirm his presence there.

Despite this overwhelming evidence, Shahrez was abducted from his home in front of his wife and two little girls by Pakistan Punjab Police. He is a devoted father, a respected professional, and a proud athlete who has represented Pakistan with honor on international stages.

Shahrez is not a politician, nor has he ever been involved in political activities. His life’s work has been to bring pride to Pakistan competing abroad, carrying the national flag, and inspiring the next generation through sport. To treat a national sports hero in this way is not only unjust, it is deeply inhumane.

This is more than the story of one man; it is a clear example of ongoing human rights violations in Pakistan, where innocent citizens are taken without cause, families are shattered, and evidence is ignored. Such treatment, particularly of a citizen who has raised Pakistan’s flag internationally, is unacceptable and disgraceful.

By standing with Shahrez, you are standing for justice, dignity, and the rule of law. We demand his immediate release and urge the authorities, human rights organisations, and the international community to recognize the overwhelming evidence of his innocence.

Opposition and injustice are not to stop us, they are the winds that lift us. Every petition, every act of resistance, every step for justice turns pressure into power. The harder the challenge, the louder our voices must rise.

Justice must prevail. Pakistan must protect, not persecute, those who bring honor to its name.

Action Plan:

  • Email your Member of Parliament (MP) and urge them to raise this case publicly.
  • Reach out to human rights authorities such as Amnesty International.
  • Appeal directly to the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) to monitor Pakistan’s Human Rights violations.

This picture, taken on May 9th, clearly shows Shahraz Khan in Chitral.

a map showing the time zone difference between Chitral and Lahore, clearly illustrating that it would be impossible for a person to travel between the two locations in a single day, given that Shahrez Khan was already in Chitral.

His messages, outlining and confirming the details of the trip, demonstrate that his planning and focus were centered in Chitral with his family.
