We had this clutch emerge from the nest today.
There are 182 slings!
Imagine you buy one spider and get forced to take 182 with it!!!!!! Ahhh
These little ones take containers, fruit flies, misting, and a lot of time before they are adoptable. Also, by the time these are adoptable you will be on at least a second clutch! So either you have to find homes for all of them or you have A LOT of spiders!
I can not speak for all breeders but I can promise that our goal is to be part of the solution and not the problem. It takes a couple months of care before they are able to be adopted and thays time I personally put in each day. However, our price is still less or comparable to our local pet stores. I do this to try and make sure that captive bred babies are an affordable option to all and cost is not a factor in people purchasing wild caught.
Many species were recently banned from Florida because of the possible environmental impact of the non native jumpers and our reduced wild jumper population. I am still trying to understand why we banned species from coming into out state buy didn't do a thing about the amount of wild collectors that are diminishing our population by catching and selling them without out any idea of the health, age or in females if they are gravid. I agree we need to do something to protect our environment but let's start with protecting whats native and stop allowing people to take them from the wild.
Please help us to make this better for owners and the wild population. You have no idea how much just a signature would mean to us!
