Protect Our Wells. Say NO to Del-Co’s Water Grab

Protect Our Wells. Say NO to Del-Co’s Water Grab
The Issue
Del-Co wants to pull up to 6 million gallons of water a day from farmland near Utica, and that water comes from the same aquifer many of us rely on for our private wells.
If this goes through, we’re the ones who could pay the price. Our wells could run dry. Our water could get contaminated. And we’ll be stuck with the cost, not them. They say it’s about growth. But growth for who? Most locals won’t see the benefits. Instead, our homes, farms, and land could be put at risk.
Here’s what could happen if Del-Co moves forward:
❌ Wells running dry
❌ Lower water pressure in homes and barns
❌ Long-term problems for our aquifer
❌ Risk of groundwater contamination if too much is pumped or the land gets disturbed
❌ Paying out of pocket for deeper wells or better filtration
❌ More development and traffic in rural areas
❌ Losing farmland
❌ Lower property values
❌ No clear compensation from Del-Co
❌ No guarantees our water will stay safe
❌ No clear plan for who’s responsible if something goes wrong
❌ Locals not really having a say, it’s already in motion
❌ Water could serve other counties, not just us
❌ Del-Co gets the profit, we get the risk
We didn’t ask for this.
This isn’t about helping Utica. It’s about Del-Co expanding and using our land and water to do it. They’re already drilling test wells. They’re already making moves. And unless we speak up now, they’ll be hauling millions of gallons a day out of our community and we’ll be the ones left high and dry.
Say NO to Del-Co’s water grab. Protect our wells before it’s too late.
Neighboring areas like Knox County could also be affected in the future if Del-Co expands their project. That's why we need to act now to protect our water and our communities.
We, the undersigned, urge local officials to STOP Del-Co's plan to withdraw water from our aquifer.
