Protect our Village from Development on Greenfield Land

Protect our Village from Development on Greenfield Land
The Issue
Please help us save our local wildlife sanctuary from development for future generations.
As well as signing the petition, it's not too late to go to the Horsham District Council Planning Portal, enter keyword DC/24/1619 and make a comment to object to this application.
If concreted over, we will lose two fields which have re-wilded over many decades. These have become important for our local wildlife of insects, birds, bats, badgers, foxes and deer. We believe dormice are also present.
For the third time in 10 years, developers are attempting to build 14 houses on this greenfield land at Smock Alley and Haglands Lane in West Chiltington.
This site has already been rejected THREE TIMES by Horsham District Council and twice at Appeal by Government Inspectors but with the new Labour Government's attitude for building WE NEED ALL THE SUPPORT WE CAN GET.
The reasons for refusal include:
*Unsustainable location due to the distance to local services and reliance on cars
*Settlement coalescence, merging distinct parts of our village
*Harmful impacts on wildlife and protected species
*Landscape damage, with steep hills creating an overbearing effect
*Increased road damage and traffic movements
*Flooding risks to the roads in this area during winter
*Further impacts on our already stretched local infrastructure
*Harm to the environment
Brownfield sites should be considered first, instead of using our Greenfield land.
This Greenfield site lies outside the village’s built-up area boundary and its development threatens the character and biodiversity of our community. Allowing this development could also set a dangerous precedent for further construction on Greenfields.
Do you agree this development should be stopped? Sign our petition to protect our village and prevent the destruction of this vital green space. Every voice counts!
